1. What influenced/inspired you to come up with the concept of education TV channel?
Ans. Statistics show that there are approximately 300 million children enrolled in schools across India. Realising that the world is becoming competitive by the day, there is a need for strong education so that the students can aim for the best in the future. Thus, we felt that there is a significant opportunity to supplement the existing school system to help children make the best of their secondary education. TV was used as the primary medium, because of the immense reach it provides to all corners of the country.
2. Which all Boards does Topper cater to?
Ans. Topper course material is designed as per CBSE syllabus, which is the benchmark for most state education boards in the country. Hence we believe that it will predominantly cover the syllabus for classes 9, 10, 11 and12 across all the Boards.
3. What all subjects do you cover?
Ans. We currently cater to Maths and Science for class 9th and 10th; and Maths, Physics and Chemistry for class 11th and 12th. We will add new subjects in future, as well as extend our content to other classes. This will be intimated in due course.
4. Why have you chosen only a few selected science subjects? What will happen to the Commerce and Humanities subjects?
Ans. We needed to get started from somewhere and therefore have launched with Science and Mathematics. Going forward, depending upon the demand for other subjects we will enhance our offering
5. Is TILS updated as per new 2008 syllabus?
Ans. Yes.
6. Where can I see Topper channel?
Ans. To receive TOPPER on your DTH television, please tune to Channel 097 on your DishTV or to channel 570 on your Tata-Sky Set Top Box.
You can also view Topper episodes on this website by using Lesson On Demand facility.
7. Do I need to register or login to sample lessons?
Ans. Yes, you need to register yourself to be able to enter the website and use the various functionalities therein.
8. Is it OK to share my password with my friend(s)?
Ans. A subscription to TILS gives you the privilege of accessing the modules. This access is given only to the subscriber. It would be wrong to share passwords with your friends because then they will be using something that they have not bought. As per our Terms and Conditions, we reserve the right to suspend your account in case of shared passwords. Also please note that at given point of time, only one user will be allowed to access the site.
9. We are two (or more) brothers or friends trying to register through one email Id? Why are we not getting registered?
Ans. Topper uses your username and email id as a unique field in our database which cannot be used by any other user or subscriber. Different users need to register using separate email ids.
10. My Password does not work? Can I change my password?
Ans. On the login screen there is an option for Forgot my password which will mail the password to your Email id.
11. How is using TILS better than professional coaching classes or home tuitions?
Ans. Each mode of education has its own unique advantages. Topper aims to supplement all existing modes of education, and cannot replace them.
Topper is a comprehensive education service which uses modern media, like TV, internet etc. These media are primarily visual in nature and can be easily adapted to show rich content in simple manner. This pictorial and graphical depiction of concepts, allows children to relate to real life situations easily and grasp the fundamentals faster.

12. Can we post/send our own questions?
Ans. Question can be posted on the website; however care need to be taken that medium does not get trivialized by asking inconsequential questions. These question can be posted in Ask Expert ,or on various discussion boards. This is not online tutoring; Topper Integrated Learning System(TILS) is an education service in TV which is reinforced with interactive content on the web.
13. Several chapters of my textbook are not available as of now, how do I see them?
Ans. Updating content to the website is a continuous and ongoing process. As such, content will keep getting added to the website as it is ready / improved. It is possible that some field/chapters are currently not populated or under rework, and hence they do not appear.
14. I am trying to access “Take a Test” / “Ask Question” but I am being asked to login?
Ans: Topperlearning.com’s website content, testing services, expert services etc. can be accessed only by registered subscribers. Therefore, the users need to login before they are granted access to use various features of the website.
15. How will the students be able to take tests online? What will be the judging parameters?
Ans. After viewing an episode on Topper TV, a student can access additional study material on the site and also take tests online. A performance record of each student is maintained to check progress. The portal offers an interactive facility whereby students have access to a panel of experts who will answer their queries online. The portal will also host forums and groups, where like-minded students can connect, to discuss issues relevant to their subjects.
16. Will I be able to see my tests results?
Ans. At the end of each test, you will be able to see your score. We have introduced a personal Report Card feature in which you will be able to see scores of all the tests that you have taken over a period of time.
17. I find very few relevant programs in program schedule. Why?
Ans. If you have been seeing TOPPER channel over a period of time, you will find that that channel pertains to classes 9, 10, 11 and 12; accordingly the time slots of our channel alternate between these 4 classes. Hence on any particular day only 25% of the total time available, will be of specific relevance to any one class.
18. I missed seeing my episode of the day, what should I do? What are the repeats patterns that topper has for us to see the episode again.

Every episode is repeated 5 times. First airing happens afternoon of Day-1; Repeated late night, next morning and evening. Repeated again on Day3 and Day 4 to enable students to catch up/ watch again
19. How would I know the timing of my favourite episode, as in when it is going to be aired? How can I view the program schedule?
Ans: You can view the “Program Schedule” on the website to know the timings of episode. “Program Schedule” can be accessed from the website homepage or from your class page. It can also be downloaded and printed.
20. Can I view the schedule of an entire week for my class?
Ans: Weekly schedules are available on the website. Website users can view the schedule using the “Program Schedule” functionality. Users can download weekly schedule for their reference.
21. Is there any option to see episodes on internet?
Ans: Yes, Topperlearning.com has “Lesson on Demand” facility. Students can access this facility from their class home page and click on “Lesson on Demand”.
22. Is there any possibilities to see episodes in multi languages (Hindi, Telugu, Tamil etc.)?
Ans: As of now the Topper Learning Channel is available in English language only. However, going forward we are dubbing our content and will be showcasing episodes in multiple languages.
23. How do I rate my favourite episodes on internet?
Ans: You can rate your favourite episode by using the “Rate Program” option on your class page. Just click on “Rate Now” and select the episode you want to rate.
24. Why does the video keep stopping and starting while I'm watching it?
Ans. If a video doesn't play continuously, it may be due to your connection speed. You'll need a broadband connection with at least 256+Kbps for the best viewing experience. We use streaming video and its also possible that your video download speed is inconsistent.
Another possible reason for choppy video playback is that our servers are experiencing high traffic.
25. When do we see fresh topics on Topper channel?
Ans: Topper airs 4 new episodes everyday; one for each class. The first airing happens in the afternon, and they are subsequently aired 5 more times. We started our new session wef 1st June 2008, and we are following the recommended teaching schedule of most schools.
26. Are the questions mentioned under the Exam Decoded category approved from C.B.S.E. Board?
Ans: Questions showed in this category are the frequently asked questions on that particular concept and are chosen based upon their likelihood to come in exams.
27. Can you introduce episodes or shows for the preparation of competitive exams?
Ans: At present, we are catering to the education at school level from class 9 to 12. These are focused on the school board exams. We will evaluate episodes for competitive exams like JEE, AIEEE, CET etc at a later stage.
28. If someone has placed question in Ask expert how will he get the feedback?
Ans: Once the question is raised in Ask expert section, our experts will answer them within 72 hours of time in the same section. Students will get an email informing that their question has been answered.
29. Why does the expert take 48 – 72 hrs. to solve the queries?
Ans: Our experts try to answer the questions as soon as they are posted. However, sometimes there might be delays due to the sheer volume of questions being posted. Hence, we have defined a time limit of 48 – 72 hours for resolution of queries.
30. Are CD’s and Study materials available in local market?
Ans. No, our program CDs and study material is not available in local market.
31. How can teachers and professors join the expert team?
